the extraordinary building of lawang sewu

The blazing heat of the sun and the very hot weather did not decrease our enthusiasm for us to visit Lawang Sewu. actually we visited Lawang Sewu because of the second class. the trip from the Unissula campus to Lawang Sewu is around 15 minutes. we travel by motorbike. A very easy trip because of the strategic location of the lawang sewu and being close to the city.
According Seputar Semarang , Lawang Sewu is an ancient building dating back to the Dutch era that was built in 1904. Originally this building was for the Dutch colonial railroad company (Tram) or Nederlandsch Indishe Spoorweg Naatschappij (NIS). This art deco three-story building (1850-1940) is the work of renowned Dutch architects, Prof. Jacob F Klinkhamer and BJ Queendag. Lawang Sewu is located on the east side of Tugu Muda Semarang, or on the corner of Pandanaran and Jalan Pemuda streets. Called Lawang Sewu (Thousand Doors), this is because the building has very many doors. In fact, there are fewer than a thousand doors. This building has many windows that are tall and wide, so people often think of it as a door.
Lawang sewu is open from 07.00 to 21.00, the ticket price for entering Lawang Sewu, for adults is Rp 10,000, for small children (3 -12 years) Rp 5,000, and for elementary school students (senior high school) Rp. 5000. Ticket prices are very cheap for all people.
